What's New

Event Calendar of the SME Centres

To enhance the integrated services of the four existing SME Centres, including SUCCESS under the Trade and Industry Department, the "SME Centre" under the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), "SME One" under the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and "TecONE" under the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, SUCCESS has launched an "Event Calendar of the SME Centres" on its website.  The Event Calendar facilitates enterprises to obtain information on seminars/workshops/activities organised by the four SME Centres from a single platform, and also provides links to the relevant event web pages to facilitate registration.

SUCCESS Activities

The counter service of SUCCESS has been resumed.  Meanwhile, webinars, Customer Hotline (Tel.: (852) 2398 5133) and Email Enquiry (success@tid.gov.hk) continue to be operated as usual.  On the other hand, in order to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spreading in the community, SUCCESS has suspended "Video Show of SME Seminars" for the public until further notice.
 

Activities of the SME Service Centres

SME Service Centres' "4-in-1" Seminar Series

The Government consolidated the services of the four SME Centres in October 2019 (SUCCESS of the Trade and Industry Department (TID), the SME Centre of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), SME One of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and TecONE of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP)) to provide “4-in-1” integrated services.  The four Centres are co-organising two rounds of “4-in-1” seminar series in the first half of 2022 on “Exploring Mainland Market” and “Government Funding Schemes” respectively.

The seminar series on “Exploring Mainland Market” aims to assist enterprises to explore the Mainland market by introducing the business environment and market profile, together with experience sharing by the enterprises.  As for the seminar series on “Government Funding Schemes”, it shares a range of government funding schemes alongside successful case stories with a view to helping SMEs upgrade their businesses and enhance competitiveness.  SUCCESS of TID and SME ReachOut would organise webinars under the seminar series “Exploring Mainland Market” and “Government Funding Schemes” on 24, 25 and 26 May 2022.  Interested persons are welcome to register at the links below.  Admission is Free.  

I. Webinar on “Business Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”
(This webinar will be held by SUCCESS of TID on 24 May 2022)

With a huge market and lower operation cost, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is an ideal platform for many Hong Kong enterprises to develop their businesses. This webinar will introduce the background and potential of the GBA, the key points and strategic significance of its development plan, as well as the challenges when entering the GBA market.  The speakers will also explain the opportunities and risks brought by the GBA development plan, and analyse the potential and trends of industries in the GBA through data analysis, with a view to assisting SMEs to tap into the GBA market and grasp the opportunities brought by the GBA development.  (This webinar will be conducted in Cantonese.)

II. Webinar on “Mainland and Hong Kong Cross Border Supply Chains Management”
(This webinar will be held by SUCCESS of TID on 25 May 2022)

As the pandemic continues to affect cross-border supply chains between the Mainland and Hong Kong, various industries are facing unprecedented challenges.  In this webinar, the representative from GS1 HK will introduce ways to enhance product credibility, safety and authenticity in the supply chains management, unleashing infinite opportunities with a single code.  An enterprise representative will also be invited to share how to leverage a one-stop solution to manage the Guangdong-Hong Kong cross-border trade covering product licensing, import and export declaration, logistics, publicity and intellectual property infringement issues, embracing the enormous post-COVID business potentials.  (This webinar will be conducted in Cantonese.)

III. Webinar on “Up to HK$10 Million Government Funding - Excel Your Industry Achievement by Innovation & Technology”
(This webinar will be held by SME ReachOut of HKPC on 26 May 2022)

Effective use of the innovation and technology could help enterprises upgrade their businesses.  Government funding schemes on research and development are available for SMEs to capitalise the intellectual works.  In this webinar, SME ReachOut invited Hong Kong Innovative Technology Development Association to share the market trends on innovation and technology.  The webinar will also introduce funding details and application tactics of "Enterprise Support Scheme (ESS)", "Research and Development Cash Rebate Scheme (CRS)", "Patent Application Grant (PAG)" and "Research Talent Hub (RTH)" under "Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF)".  (This webinar will be conducted in Cantonese.)

STARS Programme Cohort 5: PropTech + ESG - “Upskilling Workshop - Government Funding Schemes, Intellectual Property & Q-Mark Schemes”

SME ReachOut

Amid difficult business environment, HKPC knows SMEs are in the urgent need of cash to keep business running.  The newly established "SME ReachOut" support team is here to help SMEs well equip for bouncing back, through introducing and matching the appropriate funding schemes.

"SME ReachOut", a dedicated service team operated by HKPC, has commenced operation starting from 1 January 2020 to support SMEs through free-of-charge one-on-one meetings.  The team would help SMEs identify funding schemes that suit their needs, while answering questions relating to applications.

There are over 40 funding schemes provided by the Government for SMEs, with different funding scopes, amounts and requirements.  "SME ReachOut" serves to enhance SMEs' understanding of the Government's funding schemes, with a view to encouraging better utilisation of the support provided by the Government, and to enhancing their competitiveness and development.

Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD Fund)

The Trade and Industry Department (TID) rolled out enhancement to the BUD Fund on 14 February 2022.

To further support enterprises in developing more diversified markets, effective from 14 February 2022, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund has been extended to 13 economies with which Hong Kong has signed Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (IPPAs), including Austria, Belgo-Luxembourg Economic Union, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.  Currently, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund covers a total of 35 economiesnote 1.

The geographical scope of the BUD Fund is being extended in phases since July 2021 to cover all economies with which Hong Kong has signed Free Trade Agreements and/or IPPAs.  The final phase, with the geographical scope to be further extended to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, will be implemented in the second quarter of 2022.

Corruption Prevention Advisory Service (CPAS) of ICAC

A good governance system is vital for SMEs' effective operation, and can help sustain their company image and hence counterparts' confidence in doing business with them.  The Corruption Prevention Department of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has launched the Corruption Prevention Advisory Service (CPAS).  The CPAS is a specialised unit dedicated to providing tailor-made, free and confidential corruption prevention advice on system control in common business areas such as procurement and staff administration.  Enterprises can access its user-friendly web portal ( https://cpas.icac.hk/EN/) for details of the services and to get timely and useful resources on corruption prevention such as staff code of conduct, corruption prevention guides and tools, case studies, quick tips and red flags.
