What's New

Event Calendar of the SME Centres

To enhance the integrated services of the four existing SME Centres, including SUCCESS under the Trade and Industry Department, the "SME Centre" under the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), "SME One" under the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and "TecONE" under the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, SUCCESS has launched an "Event Calendar of the SME Centres" on its website.  The Event Calendar facilitates enterprises to obtain information on seminars/workshops/activities organised by the four SME Centres from a single platform, and also provides links to the relevant event web pages to facilitate registration.

SUCCESS Activities

In view of the latest development of the epidemic situation, the counter service of SUCCESS has been resumed.  Meanwhile, webinars, Customer Hotline (Tel.: (852) 2398 5133) and Email Enquiry (success@tid.gov.hk) continue to be operated as usual.  On the other hand, in order to reduce the risk of the spread of the novel coronavirus in the community, SUCCESS will not provide "Video Show of SME Seminars" for the public until further notice.

“Blender 3D Modeling: From Maya and 3ds Max to Blender”
(This course will be held on 16, 19, 23, 26 and 30 May 2022 at Hong Kong Productivity Council)

This course is organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council.  SUCCESS is one of the supporting organisations.  The course aims at helping designers to gain practical knowledge of Blender 3D Modeling and learn how to produce basic product designs, 3D models, and digital art projects by using Blender 3D Modeling.  (Admission fee is required.  This course will be conducted in Cantonese.)

Webinar: Hong Kong – UAE Partnership: Immense Opportunities

(This webinar will be live-streamed on 24 May 2022)

The webinar is co-organised by the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government and the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  Middle East is an important growing region with tremendous business opportunities.  At this webinar, a number of distinguished guests, including the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, HKSAR, Mr. Edward YAU; the Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economy of UAE, H.E. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi; the Acting Consul-General of UAE in Hong Kong, H.E. Intellectual Property Department: IP Manager Scheme PLUS

The Intellectual Property Department has launched the “Intellectual Property (IP) Manager Scheme PLUS” (the Scheme), which provides more comprehensive and in-depth IP training courses to cater for specific duties and career development needs of IP Managers so as to help develop their expertise and skills.  Enterprises registered in Hong Kong can join the Scheme for free.  A series of training courses will be launched this year starting from June 2022.  Enterprises joining the Scheme can enroll at a discounted price.

Code of Practice in Times of Typhoons and Rainstorms

The “Code of Practice in Times of Typhoons and Rainstorms” (COP) published by the Labour Department aims at alerting employers to consult employees as soon as possible on the work arrangements including reporting for duty, release from work, resumption of work and work from home (if applicable), etc. in times of tropical cyclone, rainstorm warnings or “extreme conditions” after super typhoons and other adverse weather conditions.  The COP also provides reference guidelines to employers and employees on relevant arrangements.

Employment Guidelines on Wage Reductions and Retrenchments

Amid economic downturn, organisations may need to implement cost cutting measures to tide over the difficult situation.  The Labour Department provides the leaflets and booklets on wage reductions and retrenchments for employers' and employees' reference.  Employers are also reminded of their obligations under the Employment Ordinance.

SME ReachOut

Amid difficult business environment, HKPC knows SMEs are in the urgent need of cash to keep business running.  The newly established "SME ReachOut" support team is here to help SMEs well equip for bouncing back, through introducing and matching the appropriate funding schemes.

"SME ReachOut", a dedicated service team operated by HKPC, has commenced operation starting from 1 January 2020 to support SMEs through free-of-charge one-on-one meetings.  The team would help SMEs identify funding schemes that suit their needs, while answering questions relating to applications.

There are over 40 funding schemes provided by the Government for SMEs, with different funding scopes, amounts and requirements.  "SME ReachOut" serves to enhance SMEs' understanding of the Government's funding schemes, with a view to encouraging better utilisation of the support provided by the Government, and to enhancing their competitiveness and development.

Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD Fund)

The Trade and Industry Department (TID) rolled out enhancement to the BUD Fund on 14 February 2022.

To further support enterprises in developing more diversified markets, effective from 14 February 2022, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund has been extended to 13 economies with which Hong Kong has signed Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (IPPAs), including Austria, Belgo-Luxembourg Economic Union, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.  Currently, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund covers a total of 35 economiesnote 1.

The geographical scope of the BUD Fund is being extended in phases since July 2021 to cover all economies with which Hong Kong has signed Free Trade Agreements and/or IPPAs.  The final phase, with the geographical scope to be further extended to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, will be implemented in the second quarter of 2022.
