Event Calendar of the SME Centres

To enhance the integrated services of the four existing SME Centres, including SUCCESS under the Trade and Industry Department, the "SME Centre" under the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), "SME One" under the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and "TecONE" under the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, SUCCESS has launched an "Event Calendar of the SME Centres" on its website. The Event Calendar facilitates enterprises to obtain information on seminars/workshops/activities organised by the four SME Centres from a single platform, and also provides links to the relevant event web pages to facilitate registration.

SUCCESS Activities

SUCCESS Seminar

Webinar: “Utilising Innovative Technology to Grow Your Business in the Greater Bay Area”
(This webinar will be live-streamed on 25 February 2022)

Many SMEs are seeking for business transformation and innovation under the pandemic. Utilising innovative technology could help enterprises expand their businesses in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and overseas markets, and explore business opportunities. While the business environment, opportunities and innovative technology in the GBA are quite different from Hong Kong, the speaker of this seminar will introduce different categories and industrial chains of the innovative technology in the GBA, including 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), new retail and new media. He will also introduce the local government support for innovation and technology and share the preparation for starting a business, practical operation and tips on doing business in the GBA, with a view to helping enterprises enter the GBA market. (This webinar will be conducted in Cantonese.)

Activities of the SME Service Centres

SME Service Centres' "4-in-1" Seminar Series

The Government consolidated the services of the four SME Centres in Oct 2019 ( SUCCESS of the Trade and Industry Department (TID), the SME Centre of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), SME One of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and TecONE of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to provide “4-in-1” integrated services. The four Centres are co-organising another round of “4-in-1” seminar series in the first half of 2022 on “Government Funding Schemes” and “Exploring Mainland Market”.

The webinar series organised by the SME ReachOut is one of the series under the SME Service Centres' "4-in-1" seminar series. It will share a range of government funding schemes alongside successful case stories provided for SMEs to help upgrade their businesses, sustain business and enhance productivity. The SME ReachOut will organise a webinar on 3 March 2022 to share popular funding schemes and funding schemes related to logistics industry. Industry experts would also share the latest market trend and successful cases on business transformation. Interested persons are welcome to register at the link below. Admission is Free.

HKIHRM Job Creation Scheme 2.0

The HKIHRM Job Creation Scheme 2.0 (“the Scheme”), organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (HKIHRM), in collaboration with the Civil Service Bureau, is one of the job creation schemes under the Anti-epidemic Fund of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSARG). The Scheme aims to create up to 1,000 time-limited jobs of different skill sets and academic qualifications in the private sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the Scheme, eligible members of the HKIHRM may apply for a monthly subsidy from the HKSARG for each eligible job position created.

Key Highlights of the Scheme:

  • Subsidised Amount: A maximum of HK$10,000 per month OR 50% of the actual monthly basic salary, whichever is lower
  • Subsidised Period: a maximum of 12 months for each subsidy or until 31 January 2023, whichever is earlier
  • Application Deadline: 31 March 2022 (first come, first served)

SME ReachOut

Amid difficult business environment, HKPC knows SMEs are in the urgent need of cash to keep business running. The newly established "SME ReachOut" support team is here to help SMEs well equip for bouncing back, through introducing and matching the appropriate funding schemes.

"SME ReachOut", a dedicated service team operated by HKPC, has commenced operation starting from 1 January 2020 to support SMEs through free-of-charge one-on-one meetings. The team would help SMEs identify funding schemes that suit their needs, while answering questions relating to applications.

There are over 40 funding schemes provided by the Government for SMEs, with different funding scopes, amounts and requirements. "SME ReachOut" serves to enhance SMEs' understanding of the Government's funding schemes, with a view to encouraging better utilisation of the support provided by the Government, and to enhancing their competitiveness and development.

Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD Fund)

The Trade and Industry Department (TID) rolled out enhancement to the BUD Fund on 14 February 2022.

To further support enterprises in developing more diversified markets, effective from 14 February 2022, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund has been extended to 13 economies with which Hong Kong has signed Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (IPPAs), including Austria, Belgo-Luxembourg Economic Union, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Currently, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund covers a total of 35 economiesnote 1.

The geographical scope of the BUD Fund is being extended in phases since July 2021 to cover all economies with which Hong Kong has signed Free Trade Agreements and/or IPPAs. The final phase, with the geographical scope to be further extended to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, will be implemented in the second quarter of 2022.

Corruption Prevention Advisory Service (CPAS) of ICAC

A good governance system is vital for SMEs' effective operation, and can help sustain their company image and hence counterparts' confidence in doing business with them. The Corruption Prevention Department of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has launched the Corruption Prevention Advisory Service (CPAS). The CPAS is a specialised unit dedicated to providing tailor-made, free and confidential corruption prevention advice on system control in common business areas such as procurement and staff administration. Enterprises can access its user-friendly web portal ( https://cpas.icac.hk/EN/) for details of the services and to get timely and useful resources on corruption prevention such as staff code of conduct, corruption prevention guides and tools, case studies, quick tips and red flags.

HKTDC Research Seminar “Exploring the Metaverse: Cybersecurity and Decentralisation” (Webinar)
