I. InnoPreneur Network SME LevelUp Workshop - 2026 Enterprise AI Application Guide: Copilot in Action x AI-Powered Operations
(This workshop will be held at Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub, Shenzhen on 26 August 2026)
This workshop is co-organised by the "SME One" of the HKPC and the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Co-operation Zone of Shenzhen Municipality. This workshop will take participants on an exploration of the practical applications of Microsoft Copilot, AI’s role in daily decision-making, and how to integrate digital tools across customer relationship management (CRM), marketing, inventory, procurement, and human resources (HR) management, with a view to helping enterprises boost operational efficiency. III. AI Applications for SMEs: Improving Operational Efficiency and Expanding E-commerce Brands (Seminar)
(This seminar will be held at Trade and Industry Tower on 4 September 2026)
This seminar is held by the "SUCCESS" of the TID. In this seminar, an AI expert will introduce the latest trends in AI applications for SMEs, and explore how to optimise daily workflows using the “Eliminate, Automate, Augment” productivity model through interactive frameworks and live walkthroughs. This course is offered by the HKPC. SUCCESS is one of the supporting organisations. This online course will feature an AI finance expert who will share the latest developments and actual application cases of AI and Generative AI in areas such as banking, insurance, accounting, and corporate finance. The speaker will also discuss data privacy, information security, regulatory requirements, and the principles of responsible use in AI applications, with a view to helping financial practitioners seize opportunities presented by these technologies while effectively managing related risks. Intellectual Property Department: IP Training Programme “IP105 Safeguarding Digital Identity: Domain Name Dispute Resolution”
(This course will be live-streamed and held at the VTC Tower, Wan Chai on 21 August 2026)
This new intellectual property (IP) course organised by the Intellectual Property Department and co-organised by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre is now open for registration.
The course will cover an overview of the domain name system, types of abuse and infringement (such as cybersquatting, phishing, typosquatting, etc.) and how to use a speedy and cost-effective specialised domain name dispute resolution process to protect IP. It will include case studies and practical step by step guidance on how to file and succeed in a domain name dispute case. (The medium of instruction will be Cantonese, supplemented with English terms.)
This course is free for members of the “
IP Manager Scheme PLUS”. Enterprises registered in Hong Kong can fill out the
online form to join the Scheme for free, getting priority in course registration and special offers for their staff joining the

2026 Guangdong/Hong Kong Seminar on Intellectual Property (IP) and Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) (Foshan)
The Beginning of the National 15th Five-Year Plan: Intellectual Property Layout, Strategies and Practices for Enterprises to Go Global
(This seminar will be held in Foshan City, Guangdong Province on 3 September 2026)
This seminar is jointly organised by the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSARG, HKTDC, the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation (Guangdong Intellectual Property Administration) and the People’s Government of Foshan Municipality. This seminar aims to enhance the understanding of key practical issues covering cross-boundary intellectual property (IP) layout and dispute resolution among Hong Kong SMEs in Guangdong Province and Mainland enterprises, strengthen their capabilities to utilise IP protection and management strategies effectively when going global for business expansion in overseas markets, enabling enterprises to fully capitalise on the new development opportunities arising from the National 15th Five-Year Plan. Labour Rights under Different Employment Patterns
Employees, except for those to whom the Employment Ordinance (Ordinance) does not apply, irrespective of their working hours and whether they are designated as “full-time”, “part-time”, “long term”, casual, temporary, substitute employees or remunerated on piece rate, are protected by the Ordinance and entitled to certain basic rights under the Ordinance such as wage payment protection, restriction on deduction from wages, taking statutory holidays and rights of participating in trade unions, etc. An employee, who is employed under a “continuous contract” and meets the qualifying conditions under the Ordinance, is entitled to additional rights and benefits like rest days, pay for statutory holidays, annual leave with pay, sickness allowance and severance payment/ long service payment, etc.

AFCD signs agreement with Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Qinghai Province to strengthen agricultural and fisheries co-operation
To promote exchanges and co-operation between Qinghai and Hong Kong in the agricultural and fisheries industries, and to establish communication mechanisms to drive sustainable and high-quality development for the industries in both places, the Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Mr Mickey Lai, and Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Qinghai Province Mr Ji Huizong signed on 13 August 2026 an agreement on strengthening agricultural and fisheries co-operation between the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Qinghai Province and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department of the HKSARG.
Under the agreement, Hong Kong can accelerate the modernisation of local agricultural and fisheries industries by drawing on the advanced technology and rich experience of Qinghai Province, thereby improving production efficiency and product quality. Furthermore, the agreement will deepen trade co-operation in agricultural and fisheries products between the two places, creating new investment opportunities for Hong Kong's industry players, facilitating industrial upgrading and transformation, and promoting joint development and mutual benefits in the agricultural and fisheries industries for both places.

Rating and Valuation Department issues requisition forms
The Rating and Valuation Department (RVD) sent out on 13 August 2026 about 390 000 requisition forms asking payers of rates and/or Government rent (payers) to provide occupation particulars, rents and tenancy details for different types of properties.
"The rental information collected will be used in a new round of general revaluation to reflect the latest market rental level of properties. The new rateable values will take effect on 1 April 2027," an RVD spokesman said.
"Whether their property is vacant, let or owner-occupied, payers should return the completed requisition form to the RVD within 21 calendar days from the date of issue. They can complete and submit an electronic form (Form e-R1A) by using the
Electronic Submission of Forms service provided on the RVD website. The website also provides
answers to commonly asked questions on completing the form. If they have difficulties in returning the form within the specified period, they must apply to the RVD in writing for an extension of time before the end of the specified period and should state their reasons."
Under the Rating Ordinance or the Government Rent (Assessment and Collection) Ordinance, any person who knowingly makes a false statement or refuses to furnish any of the particulars specified in the form commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a maximum fine of $25,000 or $10,000 respectively, and an additional fine equivalent to three times the amount of rates and/or Government rent undercharged.
Payers are reminded to pay sufficient postage if they return the form by post to ensure timely postal delivery. Underpaid mail items will not be accepted by the RVD.
