What's New

Event Calendar of the SME Centres

To enhance the integrated services of the four existing SME Centres, including the SUCCESS under the Trade and Industry Department, the "SME Centre" under the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the "SME One" under the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the "TecONE" under the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, SUCCESS has launched an "Event Calendar of the SME Centres" on its website.  The Event Calendar facilitates enterprises to obtain information on seminars/workshops/activities organised by the four SME Centres from a single platform, and also provides links to the relevant event web pages to facilitate registration.

SUCCESS Activities

The counter service of SUCCESS has been resumed.  Meanwhile, webinars, Customer Hotline (Tel.: (852) 2398 5133) and Email Enquiry (success@tid.gov.hk) continue to be operated as usual.  On the other hand, in order to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spreading in the community, SUCCESS has suspended "Video Show of SME Seminars" for the public until further notice.

Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-value Patent Portfolio Layout Competition 2022 is now open for application

This Competition is co-organised by the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation (Guangdong Intellectual Property Administration), the Intellectual Property Department of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, the Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Government of the Macao SAR, and the People’s Government of Foshan Municipality.  The Competition is now open for application.  Application deadline is 20 June 2022.  Details are as follows:

Intellectual Property Department: IP Training Programme “IP102: IP Management and Protection in the Mainland”

(This course will be live-streamed on 21, 23, 28 and 30 June 2022)

“IP102: IP Management and Protection in the Mainland” online class is organised by the Intellectual Property Department.  The course will introduce the registration methods, protection mechanisms, management strategies and enforcement actions of IP rights in the Mainland, allowing participants to fully grasp the fundamental knowledge of the IP System in the Mainland.  (Registration fee is required for non-members of “IP Manager Scheme”.  This programme will be conducted in Cantonese.)

"A Practical Guide for Setting Up in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area via Hong Kong"


To continuously promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (the GBA), Invest Hong Kong (​InvestHK) launched a comprehensive investment guidebook "A Practical Guide for Setting Up in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area via Hong Kong" on 26 May 2022 in collaboration with PwC to offer guidelines and practical advice to foreign companies setting up or planning to set up in the GBA via Hong Kong.

The guide presents the latest developments in the GBA - particularly in the areas of innovation and technology, financial services, business and professional services, lifestyle and creative industries, and aviation.  It outlines the dynamic landscape of the GBA and the winning strategies to succeed in the region via setting up in Hong Kong.  It also sets out tips on government policies and advice on facilitation measures, supported by case studies with insights from Arup, King & Wood Mallesons, Siemens, Standard Chartered Bank, and more.

InvestHK encourages businesses to add this guidebook to their toolbox of winning strategies for the GBA, leveraging Hong Kong's unique advantages as a gateway between the international market and the GBA.

SME ReachOut

Amid difficult business environment, HKPC knows SMEs are in the urgent need of cash to keep business running.  The newly established "SME ReachOut" support team is here to help SMEs well equip for bouncing back, through introducing and matching the appropriate funding schemes.

"SME ReachOut", a dedicated service team operated by HKPC, has commenced operation starting from 1 January 2020 to support SMEs through free-of-charge one-on-one meetings.  The team would help SMEs identify funding schemes that suit their needs, while answering questions relating to applications.

There are over 40 funding schemes provided by the Government for SMEs, with different funding scopes, amounts and requirements.  "SME ReachOut" serves to enhance SMEs' understanding of the Government's funding schemes, with a view to encouraging better utilisation of the support provided by the Government, and to enhancing their competitiveness and development.

Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD Fund)

The Trade and Industry Department (TID) rolled out enhancement to the BUD Fund on 14 February 2022.

To further support enterprises in developing more diversified markets, effective from 14 February 2022, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund has been further extended to 13 economies with which Hong Kong has signed Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements, including Austria, Belgo-Luxembourg Economic Union, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.  Currently, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund covers a total of 35 economiesnote 1.  The final phase of enhancement, with the geographical scope to be further extended to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, will be implemented in the second quarter of 2022.

Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) as the BUD Fund Implementer regularly organises seminars/webinars in order to enhance enterprises’ understanding of the BUD Fund.  For more details of the BUD Fund, please visit its website (https://www.bud.hkpc.org/en) or contact HKPC at 2788 6088.

HKTDC Research Seminar “Exploring the Metaverse: Business Convergence” (Webinar)
