What's New

Events & Activities of the SME Link

To enhance the integrated services of the four existing SME Centres, including the SUCCESS under the Trade and Industry Department, the "SME Centre" under the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the "SME One" under the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the "TecONE" under the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, SUCCESS has established a web portal called "SME Link" for SMEs to access and search comprehensive information and support services from a single online platform.  The "Events & Activities" of the SME Link facilitates enterprises to obtain information on SMEs related seminars/workshops/activities, including those organised by the four SME Centres from a single platform, and also provides links to the relevant event web pages to facilitate registration.

SUCCESS Activities

The counter service of SUCCESS has been resumed.  Meanwhile, webinars, Customer Hotline (Tel.: (852) 2398 5133) and Email Enquiry (success@tid.gov.hk) continue to be operated as usual.  On the other hand, in order to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spreading in the community, SUCCESS has suspended "Video Show of SME Seminars" for the public until further notice.

Webinar “Leveraging RCEP Preferential Tariffs to Explore ASEAN Market Opportunities”
(This webinar will be live-streamed on 14 July 2022)

This webinar is co-organised by SUCCESS and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.  Entered into force in January this year, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is at present the world's largest free trade agreement.  This webinar will explore the impact of regional economic integration on supply chain, especially on rules of origin and tariff reduction.  Representative from the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department will be invited to introduce the preferential tariff treatment under the Free Trade Agreement Transhipment Facilitation Scheme with respect of the RCEP, while representative from the Hong Kong Productivity Council will introduce the “FTA and IPPA Programme” (covering ASEAN Member States) under the “Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales” (BUD Fund).  (This webinar will be conducted in Cantonese.)

“Business Advisory Workshop – Exploring the Mainland Market Opportunities via the YRD Import Platform”
(This workshop will be live-streamed on 22 July 2022)

This workshop is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.  SUCCESS is one of the supporting organisations.  This workshop will explain how Hong Kong enterprises can explore the business opportunities in the Mainland market, in particular, the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, via Shanghai, and introduce related import and commerce platform.  (This workshop will be conducted in Putonghua.)

Course "Blender 3D Modeling: From Maya and 3ds Max to Blender"
(This course will be held on 30 August, 6, 13, 20 and 27 September 2022 at Hong Kong Productivity Council)

This course is offered by the Hong Kong Productivity Council.  SUCCESS is one of the supporting organisations.  The course aims at helping 3D artists and designers to gain practical knowledge of Blender 3D Modeling and learn how to produce basic product designs, 3D models, and digital art projects by using the Blender 3.0 open-source software.  (Admission fee is required.  This course will be conducted in Cantonese.)

Branding To Win Seminar: Anew.Brand-new Start

(This seminar will be live-streamed and held at CMA Building in hybrid mode on 20 July 2022)

This seminar is co-organised by the Trade and Industry Department, Hong Kong Brand Development Council / The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.  Guest speakers will share the business ecology and trends in branding in the post-pandemic era, reveal the opportunities and challenges therein, and discuss the strategies for a brand-new start of Hong Kong Brands to success.  (This seminar will be conducted in Cantonese.)

Intellectual Property Department: IP Training Programme "IP106: Patent Basics"

(This course will be live-streamed on 16 and 19 August 2022)

The Intellectual Property Department will launch a series of three patent training courses specially designed for the innovation and technology industry—“IP106: Patent Basics”, “IP202: Management and Strategies of Patent Commercialisation” and “IP203: Management and Strategies of Technology Transfer”.

“IP106: Patent Basics” is now open for registration.  The course will introduce the basic concepts of patents, including the patent protection system, the method and process of patent registration and the application of patent information in research and business.  (Interested participants may first enroll in the “IP Manager Scheme PLUS” for free by filling out an online form.  Registration fee for the courses is waived for members of the Scheme.  This programme will be conducted in Cantonese.)

The advanced courses IP202 and IP203 will be held in September and October and they are only open to those who have completed “IP106: Patent Basics”, “IP Manager Training Program” or “IP101: IP Basics”.  Registration of the courses will start in August and please stay tuned at the website.

2022 Innovation and Technology Support Programme (Platform & Seed) open for applications

The 2022 Innovation and Technology Support Programme (ITSP) (Platform & Seed) is open for applications from 4 July to 30 September 2022.

The ITSP (Platform & Seed) aims to support platform and seed research and development (R&D) projects undertaken by R&D Centres or designated local public research institutes with a view to transferring the R&D results to local industries.  Platform projects are industry-oriented applied R&D projects with potential for commercialisation, while seed projects are exploratory and forward-looking in nature.

SME ReachOut

Amid difficult business environment, HKPC knows SMEs are in the urgent need of cash to keep business running.  The "SME ReachOut" support team is here to help SMEs well equip for bouncing back, through introducing and matching the appropriate funding schemes.

"SME ReachOut", a dedicated service team operated by HKPC, has commenced operation starting from 1 January 2020 to support SMEs through free-of-charge one-on-one meetings.  The team would help SMEs identify funding schemes that suit their needs, while answering questions relating to applications.

There are over 40 funding schemes provided by the Government for SMEs, with different funding scopes, amounts and requirements.  "SME ReachOut" serves to enhance SMEs' understanding of the Government's funding schemes, with a view to encouraging better utilisation of the support provided by the Government, and to enhancing their competitiveness and development.

Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD Fund)

The Trade and Industry Department (TID) rolled out an enhancement to the BUD Fund on 27 June 2022.

To further support enterprises in making use of the better protection afforded by Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (IPPAs) to develop more diversified markets, the geographical scope of the BUD Fund has been extended with an addition of two economies with which Hong Kong has signed IPPAs, namely Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

The geographical scope of the BUD Fund has been extended, in three phases since July 2021, from 20 economies with which Hong Kong has signed Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to cover 37 economiesnote 1 with which Hong Kong has signed FTAs and/or IPPAs.

Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) as the BUD Fund Implementer regularly organises seminars/webinars in order to enhance enterprises’ understanding of the BUD Fund.  For more details of the BUD Fund, please visit its website (https://www.bud.hkpc.org/en) or contact HKPC at 2788 6088.
