Public Consultation on Companies Ordinance Rewrite

The Government is now inviting public views on the proposals to improve the provisions on company names, directors' duties, corporate directorship and registration of charges under the Companies Ordinance. Interested parties may forward their comments to the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau on or before 30 June 2008.

Information Display on "2007 Hong Kong Awards For Industries"

The Hong Kong Awards for Industries (HKAI) aims to recognise and encourage Hong Kong enterprises which have outstanding achievements in the fields of consumer product design; machinery and equipment design; customer service; environmental performance; innovation and creativity; productivity and quality; and technological achievement. The 2007 HKAI had concluded successfully. Information of the Awards Scheme and the major winning projects in 2007 will be displayed at SUCCESS from 19 to 30 May 2008. The address of SUCCESS is M/F, Trade and Industry Department Tower, 700 Nathan Road, Mongkok, Kowloon (opening hours: 8:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, except public holidays). SME Seminar: "How Exporters Can Protect Themselves in Face of the US’ Sub-prime Mortgage Crisis"

(15 May, 2008 at Hong Kong Central Library)

This seminar is organised by SUCCESS. Apart from exploring the implications of the US' sub-prime mortgage problem and the Bankruptcy Code, it will introduce how Hong Kong exporters can protect themselves and minimise the risks in export. Speakers will also share their experiences in dealing with US' importers.

SME Seminar: "Selling in the New Generation"

This seminar is organised by SUCCESS. It will introduce the two major functions of selling in the new generation, viz. creating the demand and magnifying the needs, as well as the selling model in the 21st century. Commercial Information Circulars (CICs) of the Mainland

The Trade and Industry Department recently issued a number of CICs on the Mainland's trade and economic rules and regulations. Among which, CIC No. 246/2008 dated 23 April 2008 provided the Guidance Notes for Customs on Procedures of On-site Transformation for Outward Processing Trade Enterprises (Trial), CIC No. 249/2008 dated 24 April 2008 enclosed the "Administrative Measures on Certification of New and High-tech Enterprises", and CIC No. 256/2008 dated 30 April 2008 reported the Self-Evaluation Standard on the Compliance Level of Import and Export Enterprises (Trial). In addition, CIC No. 259/2008 dated 2 May 2008 reported the Administrative Guidelines on the Standard for the Activities of Import and Export Enterprises (Trial) for the trade's reference.

Cleaner Production Partnership Programme Launched

This programme is jointly organised by the Environmental Protection Department, Guangdong Economic and Trade Commission, Hong Kong Productivity Council and the business and industrial sectors. Under the programme, the Government will provide funding support to Hong Kong-owned factories in the textile, non-metallic mineral products, metal and metal products, food and beverage, chemical products, printing and publishing, furniture manufacturing, and paper/paper products manufacturing industries in the Pearl River Delta region to help them reduce emissions and enhance energy efficiency.
