Further Economic and Trade Co-operation and Exchanges Agreed under the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA)
The Central People's Government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government have reached agreement on further liberalising trade in services and enhancing co-operation in trade and investment facilitation under the CEPA. The newly signed Supplement VII to CEPA provides for 35 market liberalisation and trade and investment facilitation measures in 19 sectors. Among them, 27 are liberalisation measures in 14 service sectors, of which eight are measures for "early and pilot implementation". New Provisions of the Amended Copyright Ordinance about "Copying and Distribution Offence" Effective Soon
The new provisions of the amended Copyright Ordinance with regard to "the copying and distribution offence" will come into force on 16 July 2010. The new provisions seek to strengthen the protection of copyright works published in newspapers, magazines, periodicals and books in a printed form. An entity or organisation which, without authorisation of the relevant copyright owner, regularly or frequently for the purpose of or in the course of its trade/business, makes for distribution or distributes an infringing copy of any printed work in excess of the prescribed numeric limits, resulting in a financial loss to the copyright owner, may be held criminally liable, together with its directors/partners/persons responsible for its internal management. This seminar is co-organised by the Intellectual Property Department and the Hong Kong Productivity Council. SUCCESS is a supporting organisation. It aims to help enterprises, especially SMEs, to recognise the intellectual capital of their companies and learn how to utilise it to maximise their business potential and raise their productivities. Through case studies, guest speakers will introduce how to apply Intellectual Capital Management (ICM) in the companies to create business value and opportunities.
