The School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) of the University of Hong Kong is a major provider of lifelong learning opportunities to the community. HKU SPACE courses are generally held in the evenings and weekends both on the University campus and at convenient downtown locations so as to be accessible to the adult working community. HKU SPACE now offers courses at all levels from entry level suitable for those with little academic qualifications right through to doctorate degrees. In many professional areas, HKU SPACE is the only or a principal provider of course in Hong Kong. The part-time academic programmes offered by the School are allocated in 44 subject groups that are allocated in three Colleges, namely, the College of Business and Finance, the College of Humanities and Law and the College of Life Sciences and Technology.
HKU SPACE is happy to work with companies to provide in-house, in-service training and development for staff. Full details of the courses can be found in the HKU SPACE biannual Prospectus and at our website on http://hkuspace.hku.hk.
HKU SPACE courses allow the workforce to upgrade and refresh skills and knowledge in a flexible and efficient manner and in this way serve the needs of the Hong Kong society as it becomes a knowledge economy. It is particularly relevant to small and medium enterprises which cannot themselves maintain a large staff development programme but must rely on good quality providers such as HKU SPACE to meet the emerging needs.
