The ICAC, through its three departments (Community Relations, Corruption Prevention and Operations), has been offering a full range of corruption prevention and educational services to help SME entrepreneurs take positive steps to plug corruption loopholes and enhance competitive edge. These services include:
1. Formulating or Reviewing Company Code of Conduct
We assist SME entrepreneurs in formulating or reviewing their company codes of conduct to set out the required behaviour and conduct of employees, state the principles of accepting advantages in relation to work, give clear advice on handling conflict of interest situations and protecting company information.
2. Organising Staff Training
We help SMEs to organise training programmes for employees to enhance their knowledge of the anti-corruption law, concept of corruption prevention and ethical governance, as well as common ethical issues in management or work situations.
3. Strengthening System Controls
We offer professional advice to individual SMEs to strengthen their company’s work practices and procedures to minimise opportunities for corruption and malpractice. Effective system controls on different functional areas such as purchasing, stock management, sales and marketing and staff administration to prevent abuses and exploitation by unscrupulous employees for personal gain.
